Avella Specialty Pharmacy verifies the insurance coverage, including co-pays, and files the claim with the insurance carrier. The physician and patient are notified of the status of the prescription within 48 hours of receipt.

Avella contacts the patient to coordinate delivery of the medication and to review support services during the course of therapy. This includes a clinical pharmacist who is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and other programs to ensure the drug is taken as prescribed by the physician and any side effects are adequately managed.

After the delivery of the dispensed medication is confirmed with both the patient and the prescribing physician’s office, an Avella pharmacist will discuss with the patient their medication(s), anticipated side effects and how to contact the pharmacy with any questions.

Avella’s clinical care coordinators will be a partner for the patient and their caregivers throughout the course of their therapy to maintain compliance and adherence, monitor and report side effects and to ensure patient access to available resources in managing their disease.
